A perfect read for my morning. Someone who’s linked in my mind with Billie Eilish, because of the sometimes similarity of their musical sound, is Olivia Rodrigo, who’s a child star like Jojo Siwa. But her parents are not industry adjacent (I don’t think) and she’s not white, but it’s also been interesting to watch her pivot into adulthood with her new music. (She’s roughly the same age as Eilish and Siwa, too.)
Yes! Olivia is so interesting because I think her music is better than both Eilish and Siwa’s BUT she isn’t getting the attention either of those two get or the accolades that Eilish gets. Her live performances seem to fall flat too!
Speaking of child stars, did you watch the recent Nickelodeon documentary Quiet on Set? It was heavily marketed to me on socials so I checked it out. Didn’t have as much feelings as other folks of my generation because I didn’t have cable as a child so never had as much of an engagement with Nickelodeon (or the Disney Channel for that matter).
