I felt this article SO HARD. I started subscribing to your substack super recently, and mostly because getting my own bedroom about eighteen months before moving away from home was such a fundamental life-affirming moment for me that, I mean, how could I NOT want to subscribe to something called Internet Bedroom? But I keep coming back because of the way that you write about writing, like the process and pitfalls and paradise of it, and because it makes me fall for my own writing all over again.
Don't stop never stopping. Loved this post entirely. Thanks for sharing it!
aw ren!!! so so glad this piece resonated with you and so happy to have you in our internet bedroom 💞 how did you decorate your bedroom when you finally got it??
I painted it a truly frightening shade of electric blue, and then began the work of covering the walls with cut outs from The Face magazine and the biggest gig posters I could find, of course! I had 3/4s of a Rage Against the Machine poster in pride of place (... because it didn't come cleanly off the wall that it was pasted on, but I wanted it so badly that I pinned it on my wall anyway haha).
Question: can anyone see what I’m posting? Ive been writing for a few weeks now. But I don’t really understand Substack yet. Is my writing open to the public? Or am I a dum-dum?
Totally. Thank you for taking the time to look, Rachel. I thought I was posting articles and not notes. Then I freaked when I saw “draft” in the corner of the note and thought “damn, have I been in draft mode this entire time?”. Story of my life. So I did the awkward thing and yelled for help. Ha. Thank’s again. Have a great day.
love this piece! a part where you said that you used substack hone in on your crafts speaks volumes to me. i felt like a failure because I didnt stick to my publishing schedule but i have to change my mindset around my work to flow with my waves of life.
i freed my myself from schedules and just post when inspo strikes honing more effectively on what I want to write
aw don’t beat yourself up at all. when I need to take a break, I just call it a scheduled vacation lol. your publishing schedule can totally include breaks!!

I looked at your profile — you’ve posted notes but no actual substack articles. hope this helps!
