hihi! welcome to the Ephemeral Archive, a monthly digital zine of everything I’m loving, coveting, obsessing over, thinking about, writing about, and more.

Internet Bedroom is completely supported by readers like you, and if you want this zine in your inbox every month, you can upgrade to paid <3 thank you so much for being here!!

Before we get into this month’s issue, I just wanna take a moment and thank you guys so much for being here and sharing Internet Bedroom and reading and talking to me about your thoughts in the comments and over DM and everything.

When I started this newsletter last year, it felt like a lot to try and put myself and my work out there. I didn’t know if I could consistently write quality work and post it online for even a dozen readers. And now there are over 1,500 of you here!!!! I feel like crying writing that because I never believed that many people would be interested in being here, in this little Internet Bedroom, with me.

I had no idea how many cool/amazing/interesting people I would meet by writing and putting it on the Internet. I had no idea that making this space would give me the confidence to do stuff like self-publish my second book or throw a standing-room-only reading with

in my hometown featuring super talented artists/thinkers/writers like
Jessica Jackson
and

I have so much I want to say about all of this, but here’s what feels most important for you to know right now:

If you feel like you aren’t welcome in a space, create the space you want to be in. Use the space you create for your art to put other creatives on. It doesn’t always have to be about you (and that’s a really good thing). Don’t hold anything back: not your love for your craft; your adoration of other artists who are on the journey with you; the knowledge and skills you gain along the way. Be generous and share it all, because that’s the only way we’re going to keep going.

If you want a better world, I promise you that you can make it.

Also…Internet Bedroom TV is live 🥹 If you liked my essay about how to make zines earlier this month, you’ll love this video where you can see how I actually put together my book zine thing and self-published (including every step of the process plus how I made it work financially💸):

Alright, on with this month’s issue of Ephemeral Archive…

watching: sofia coppola’s HI OCTANE

There’s this moment in the first episode of Hi Octane where Sofia Coppola and Zoe Cassavetes have Gus Van Sant trapped in the back of their Camaro and he’s talking about tiny camera that would fit on the button of a jacket.

“But I think the future of film is what you all are doing,” he muses. “I mean you have that tiny camera and a mic
