ephemeral archive issue #2: doechii's way
a monthly digital zine of the stuff I love featuring: my book (!!!); a new artist's way; weird accessories for spring (groundbreaking)
hihi! welcome to the second issue of Ephemeral Archive, my monthly roundup of everything I’m loving, coveting, obsessing over, thinking about, writing about, etc.
I decided to change things up and go back to my roots as a zinemaker (and I guess zine historian as I do have a phd in zines and stuff like that) AND FORMAT THIS ISSUE LIKE A ZINE. This was partially inspired by my creative twin
because we’ve been talking a lot about making zines again and then they went and wrote this incredible essay on their substack all about making zines which you should go read right now just click here.I think this is the format I’m gonna keep for these monthly roundup issues moving forward. It just makes sense to me? And sometimes I need a little break from writing so I can play with collaging and visuals and this is just a nice way to do that.
Anyways. As y’all know, my picks for these issues aim to spotlight and support femme creators and artists so please show these folks some love by following them on their socials, buying their books/art/music/things, sharing their stuff, or supporting them however you can!
ALSO, if you are in OHIO and/or COLUMBUS, OHIO,
and I are teaming up to throw a lil reading on MARCH 28TH at Two Dollar Radio HQ with some amazing folks including (who you should all go subscribe to right now. Mark your calendars, let us know you’re coming, share our announcement if you want because we really do wanna make it a great night to spotlight emerging storytellers in the 614 <3Ok NOW onto the newsletter zine…
reading: MY BOOK!!!!!
It does really blow my mind that last year I woke up randomly in December and wrote “publish Internet Bedroom magazine” on March 7th, 2025 like I knew how to design and self-publish a book. Like yes, I grew up making zines but that was in the 2000s and I had easy access to a Xerox machine. I didn’t learn InDesign in my high school newspaper class like I was supposed to, so I really didn’t know how I was going to make a magazine/book thing happen.
But then I remembered who I am and I figured that shit out and now I have a box full of books sitting in my office and another box full of orders that I’ll be dropping off at the post office soon (I wrote this way ahead of Wednesday haha).
All that said, I am so fucking grateful for the support. I didn’t know if anyone was going to buy this book of mine and every day I feel really overwhelmed knowing that people are into my writing and want to buy books I made. It really means more than you know to wake up in the morning and feel excited about being alive.
BUT ALSO, I’m giving away two copies over on my Insta and that giveaway is open to international readers, so please go enter before I pick a winner on Friday <3:
